Direct air travel between Uzbekistan and southern Sri Lanka expanded on 28 October 2026 with the launch of Centrum Air’s Tashkent–Mattala service.
The scheduled route connects the Uzbek capital with Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport. Arriving passengers received a welcome marking the new connection.
The airline’s announced seasonal plan provided for flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Travellers should treat that as the launch schedule, since operating days and availability can change.
Royal Spence Aviation, part of Aitken Spence, was appointed the airline’s general sales agent and airport supervision agent in Sri Lanka.
The service adds another entry point for visitors from Central Asia and creates scope for stronger travel and business connections between the two countries.
Tourism growth was an expected benefit identified at the launch. The announcement did not provide later passenger totals or establish the route’s longer-term commercial performance.
