Students and emerging businesses joined government and industry representatives at a two-day national artificial intelligence exhibition held on 29 and 30 September 2026.
The National AI Expo took place at Monarch Imperial, organised jointly by the Ministry of Digital Economy and SLT-MOBITEL.
More than 60 speakers from 16 countries participated, bringing an international dimension to discussions on AI adoption in Sri Lanka. The programme combined product displays with policy debate and exchanges among universities, startups and established companies.
Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya attended the inauguration of the second day and visited industrial and educational stalls.
For students, the exhibition provided an opportunity to encounter AI applications and engage with organisations working in the field.
The event’s format placed demonstrations and discussion alongside one another, connecting the technology’s practical uses with questions about its wider adoption. The announcement reported participation and activities, without claiming specific commercial outcomes.
