The Sri Lanka Women’s Cricket team will host Pakistan in 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is from the 20th to the 31st March in Dambulla and Colombo.
Sri Lanka will be led by hard-hitting opening batter Chamari Attapattu, while Bismah Maroof will give captaincy to the Pakistan ladies this series.
Sri Lanka squad is yet to announced by the SLC and they confirmed that different squads will be named for the ODIs and T20Is. Players will be shuffled and opportunities will be given to find talent in a rebuilding process.
Speaking at the media briefing held in the presence of both teams, Sri Lanka coach Hemantha Devapriya mentioned the progress the Lankan girls have made, “The girls have improved a lot in their running between the wickets as they now collect 80-100 runs when they took only 40 runs 2 years back.”
He also stated that the average score is gone up to 180 to 200 and that’s a major improvement after he took over as the coaching duties. “Chamari Attapattu is our best hitter who can clear the boundary at any given time and we have trusted her as the captain for a time of 1 year. Pakistan is a talented side and we need to put our best effort to beat them in home conditions.”
The tour will begin with 3 ODIs, which will be played at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on the 20th, 22nd and 24th of March. The three games will count for the ICC Women’s Championship 2017 – 2021 cycle, in which Sri Lanka currently lies in 8th place, the only team without a win under their belts.
The T20I series will move to Colombo where SSC will host the 1st and 3rd games while NCC will host the 2nd.
