Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera says that no one should forget the commitments made by President Maithripala Sirisena risking his life by becoming the common presidential candidate during the last presidential election.
Samaraweera has made this observation at a meeting of UNP local government representatives in Matara.
The Minister has said that had Sirisena lost, he would have had to face the wrath of his opponents and it would have been worse than what befell Sarath Fonseka.
He has added that the President has not forgotten the fact that he won the election with the votes of the UNP.
Samaraweera has urged that the President not be criticized to create unnecessary trouble.
