- Thomas’ College has appointed Harith Senanayake as the skipper of the 2019 S. Thomas’ College Rugby team ahead of the upcoming Schools Rugby season.
The outstanding second row jumper is a third year colours man who has been handed this privilege in his fourth and final year representing his alma mater.
Senanayake is undoubtedly the most experience campaigner in the team, alongside Adeesha Handunpathirana who represented the U19 Sri Lanka Rugby team at the Junior ASIAD 2018. The duo also donned the Colombo Blues jersey in “ThePapare All Star: Colombo Blues vs Kandy Reds encounter 2018”.
Senanayake is well known for his reliability in the lineouts, and his game awareness in broken play. He is also a specialist in winning possession for his side at the breakdowns using his turn over abilities.
However, this will be a real challenge for the young Thomian as it will truly test his skills in both, acting under pressure and decision making. Having lost not too many players from last year, Senanayake leads a well-balanced side with ample experience, making his chances of topping last year’s 5th place (Plate Champs) finish, bit higher.
